Decision making…

Decisions are different than choices. If I make a choice I am denying myself of the other options. If I decide then I leave the choices available for another time. Do you agree with that premise?

I made some decisions this past week that were not difficult to make, but I had to definitely look at my choices and my emotions attached to them.

Then, I chose to look at the irrational beliefs (irb) that were whirling in my head. Those always appear silly when I stop and really look at them. They most of the time are straight out lies, and generalizations that could not really be true. Example; No one likes me!, I’ll never…whatever. See what I mean? Sometimes they are based on past experiences, old rerun tapes that I haven’t deleted, and they are also relative to the person and the events emotional level.

I also like to adhere to the admonition of the bible, where it says to seek counsel of many. Many being relative to how big the event and emotions are for me and few is if I already really know the answer.

“The way of a fool is right in his own eyes: but he that hearkens unto counsel is wise.” – Pro 12:15 KJV The heartfelt counsel of a friend is as sweet as perfume and incense.Proverbs 27:9 Plans succeed through good counsel;…Proverbs 20:18

The best part of counsel or advice is that you only have to take and use the part that works for you! Therefore, seek Godly counsel, and those you trust.
