“I Can’t Believe You Just Said That”

I’ve heard this many times and I agree that it is plausible and could become part of my life. I haven’t mastered it yet. I’m thinking I need to get rid of the past garbage I clung to and grasped with fateful hurt. My prayer this month for myself.

Pastor James Hein's Blog

Humans are emotional creatures + Humans are egocentric creatures = Humans often get their feelings hurt.  It’s a pretty simple formula.

The fact that we are emotional shouldn’t bother us.  Sometimes we tend to think so since they can occasional cloud good judgment, but emotions are not bad.  God created emotive creatures so that we have an added dimension to our love, compassion, understanding, empathy, etc.  Relationally, this makes us inherently superior to any of his other creatures.

The fact that we are egocentric doesn’t have to be as bad as it sounds, because it too is somewhat natural.  It isn’t wrong to care for yourself.  Taking care of your body, taking care of your mental health, taking care of your own spiritual life are all part of God’s intention for us to be good managers of the most individually specific blessings he’s entrusted to us.

However, when emotions run…

Emmanuel, thank God

imageWhat a lovely time to review my life, my goals and check to see if there have been changes within me and with my family. A consensus this year has a definite A+.  Isn’t God’s grace perfect?

Here’s a bullet list to save on words:

  • New church family
  • Hubby (aka-Tyler) retirement adjustment 1 year plus 4 months
  • New renters in house
  • Previous renter like daughter and added hubby and cute baby
  • Mom is still with us and adored, still mentally clear
  • Tyler’s Dad circled the sun 97 times before he went to heaven
  • Hearing aids for that deaf man I’ve been yelling at… Tyler

Hmm, looks like Tyler did tons of adjusting. I hadn’t really looked at it like this before. Better tell him how extraordinary he is to have weathered all this in such a short time.  My changes don’t show up in the bullet list 😕, that is because they were mostly internal affairs, core value thoughts, perceptional view of life and how I fit. That’s another topic.

I’m ever so thankful to be reminded of Jesus birth and the glorious, profound impact it has had on the world, my world, my life.

Emmanuel, my BFF.

Forever thankful to God. Praying that God is with you.

Under His Wings

Under God’s Wings

After a forest fire in Yellowstone National Park , forest rangers began their trek up a mountain to assess the inferno’s damage. One ranger found a bird literally petrified in ashes, perched statuesquely on the ground at the base of a tree. Somewhat sickened by the eerie sight, he knocked over the bird with a stick. When he gently struck it, three tiny chicks scurried from under their dead mother’s wings. The loving mother, keenly aware of impending disaster, had carried her offspring to the base of the tree and had gathered them under her wings, instinctively knowing that the toxic smoke would rise. She could have flown to safety but had refused to abandon her babies. Then the blaze had arrived and the heat had scorched her small body, the mother had remained steadfast…because she had been willing to die, so those under the cover of her wings would live.

‘He will cover you with His feathers, And under His wings you will find refuge. (Psalm 91:4)

Have you ever hidden under God’s wings? I sure have, a blue zillion times. I remember hiding under God’s wings when I was scared, and embarassed in school when people made fun of me and i didn’t even understand what the word they used meant. Of course, I never told, I just cried and hid in Jesus. That was my safety valve or I would have tried to fight them all and that would have been worse.

Share one of your times and we can all see what great things God does!

Blessings, Marsha

power in the blood lgAnother favorite hymn, and my type of humor.  I have been away from here too long, I learned some awesome things while gone.

Picture reads: I want to be so full of Christ that when a mosquito bites me he flies away singing, “There is Power in the blood!”

Each drop from the cross was for each one of us. He loved us before we were even created, knew us in the womb, was there when we were born,  and will be within us till we reach heaven and then we will praise him forever, in a newly transformed body.  I

The power of the blood is able to overcome the evil one.

Blessings, Marsha
